Contactors

Contactors are used to switch high currents from the batteries and to the controller and motor. Used with a suitable remote cut-off switch, a line contactor should always be included in an EV power circuit to isolate the battery when parked and to act as a cut-off in the event of an emergency. Some control systems rely on contactors to facilitate regenerative braking and reverse -particularly series wound motor drives.
