It is often advantageous to lighten a flywheel when converting to electric drive using the original manual gearbox. On an IC engine the flywheel is required for mometum and torque which is not the case with an electric motor. Consequently the only role of a flywheel on an electric conversion plays is as part of the clutch system. We can machine off unnecessary weight from your flywheel which will reduce inertia losses in the drive system and also adapt it to fit on your motor shaft.
Prices start from £200 plus Vat but can be more, according to the size and exact nature of the flywheel. When ordering lightening of your flywheel please pay the standard cost of £200 plus Vat with your order and we will then advise you how much, if any more you will need to pay when we have looked at your flywheel and reviewed the specification required.
